The next bank holiday in Ireland is Monday, June 6, which means that all banks and post offices will be closed on that date. Most employees are entitled to one day's pay for public holidays on Monday, June 6.
During this upcoming bank holiday in June, many social welfare recipients will receive their payments in advance to avoid disruption to banks and post offices that are closed for public holidays.
All welfare or pension payments due into bank accounts or credit unions on Monday, June 6 will be reimbursed no later than Friday, June 3.
If you need to receive your pension payment at a post office on a bank holiday Monday, you can collect it early on Saturday, June 4th instead.
Meanwhile, recipients who receive the check by Monday, June 6 will receive it on Friday, June 3, as it will be posted a day earlier.

How is Easter Monday set for each year?
Easter Monday is the only public holiday that can vary significantly from year to year. Easter dates change every year.
Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon occurring on or after March 21st. This means that the earliest possible date for Easter Sunday in any year is March 22, and the latest is April 25.
Easter Monday falls on April 18, 2022 and April 10, 2023.
If you qualify for a public holiday benefit, you are entitled to one of the following:
- Paid leave on public holiday
- An extra day of annual leave
- One day extra pay
- Paid leave within one month after public holiday
If you are a part-time employee and meet these two conditions, you are entitled to one day's pay for public holidays:
- Have you worked at least 40 hours for your employer in the 5 weeks before the public holiday?
- Public holidays are usually on the day you work
According to Citizens' Information:
You can ask your employer at least 21 days before a public holiday if any of the other options apply to you: "If your employer does not respond at least 14 days before the public holiday, you are entitled to take the actual public holiday as paid leave."
