"A dream come true." These were the words on the lips of every member of the Limerick Blasters Cricket Club at the official inauguration celebration of their newly built cricket ground - Croker's Oval.
The home of Limerick Blasters Cricket Club. On a beautiful sunny day of the May Bank Holiday, 02/05/22, the Blasters opened their spectacular new ground to the players, in a ceremony attended by over 100 friends, families and guests.
The momentous occasion for the Limerick Club was inaugurated by several distinguished guests, including former Defense Minister, Mr Willie O'Dea, along with Councillor Azad Talukder and former Senator Malcolm Byrne. The Blasters have been playing in the Munster Cricket Union for the past 6 years.
During this time, they have been touring other grounds, and now, as a result of several years of hard work, persistence and determination, they have finally managed to form a home ground of their own in Ballyneety, the heart of the sporting city - Limerick.

The significant work behind the ground was done tirelessly by the Blasters committee, comprised of Club Captains Praveen Poulose & Shiju Chacko, Treasurer and PRO Lino Varghese, Chairman Saji Pulimalayil, Safeguarding officer Jiji P Oomen, and club secretary Thomas Raju. Their initiative and drive was well supported by all members of the club especially 33 founder members who bear all the ground development cost.
On the proud occasion for all involved with the club, there was a great sense of achievement among all members as they had successfully managed to complete this project, from start to finish in two years. Remarkably, all costs were fully raised and funded by the players themselves for the development of the ground. The players hope that this is a start, to add to the great sporting history of Limerick.
The Blasters hope to grow the sport in the county, to provide a home for those who enjoy the game and also to add to their own success in the Munster Cricket competition, having previously done the league and cup double in 2018. The sense of excitement was palpable among all members of the club who dearly love and cherish their opportunity to practice and play cricket locally. There was a great atmosphere at the ground with games, music and delicious food for all guests who were present.
