India: The first test flight of an Indian unmanned fighter plane was a great success

India: The first test flight of an Indian unmanned fighter plane was a great success, raising the pride of Indians. The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) conducted the test on Friday from the aeronautical test range at Chitradurga.

The take-off, navigation and landing of the aircraft was smooth. The test flight was a success and the video of it was released. It is also an important step towards self-reliance on such strategic defense technologies, the DRDO said in a statement.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted congratulating the DRDO. 'Congratulations to DRDO for the successful maiden flight of the self-flying drone from Chitradurga ATR. It is also a great achievement for the autonomous aircraft that pave the way for Atmanirbhar Bharat in terms of critical military systems. '

Designed and developed by the Bangalore-based Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), a research laboratory under the DRDO, the drone is powered by a small turbofan engine. The vehicle's airframe, aircraft control and avionics system are all locally developed.
