COVID booster: Pregnant women and people over 60 can now receive a second dose

A SECOND COVID-19 booster vaccine is now available for people aged over 60 and pregnant women.

The booking portal for these cohorts have been open since last week with appointments beginning today.

Further cohorts are set to be invited to book a second booster over the coming weeks, with appointments to be available for those aged 55 and over from 22 August, and 29 August for those aged 50 and over.

In the upcoming weeks, more cohorts will be encouraged to schedule a second booster. Appointments will be available for individuals who are 55 and older starting on August 22, and for those who are 50 and older starting on August 29.

People with underlying medical issues or inhabitants of long-term care homes can schedule an appointment for 1 September, while people 65 and older and healthcare professionals can schedule an appointment for their subsequent dose of the flu vaccination in October.

It is advised to wait at least four months between your first and second booster shots. Your digital Covid certificate contains the date of your most recent booster.

At least four months after receiving a positive test result or when your symptoms first appeared, everyone who has previously taken Covid should receive a second booster dosage.
