Dublin: Aer Lingus flights scheduled to depart to - and from - Dublin Airport involving most European and UK destinations from 2pm today have been cancelled. Incoming flights from Portugal and Spain are the exceptions. They won't be impacted.
Aer Lingus stated that regional flights operated by Emerald Airlines as well as flights to and from its hubs at Cork, Shannon, and Belfast are planning to fly today although there is a danger of delay and last-minute cancellations.
The information comes after an earlier warning that all flights planned to leave Dublin Airport as of today at 2 p.m. would be cancelled owing to an ongoing airline IT issue.
Because they are depending on manual procedures, Aer Lingus stated that while they are making an effort to operate some flights that were scheduled to leave Dublin before 2pm, there is still a possibility of cancellation.
Due to IT issues, the airline is now unable to interact directly with consumers, although it will attempt to update passengers on flight status.
As word of the cancellations spread, passengers at the airport felt frustrated and hopeless.

Tour groups stuck in the predicament, disgruntled tourists, and a student whose visa ends tomorrow were among those venting their frustration.
Many people expressed dissatisfaction with the local communication system and claimed they learned about aircraft cancellations from news sources long before they were formally informed at the airport.
The airline issued a statement stating: "Our cloud-based services enabling check-in, boarding, and our website are presently inaccessible due to a serious event with a network supplier."
It claimed that a significant connectivity breakdown had occurred on a cloud-based system run by a UK provider. It further stated that the service provider was unable to predict when connectivity will be restored.
"Unfortunately," according to Aer Lingus, the problem is seriously disrupting services.
"From 2pm onwards today, all flights that were initially planned to leave Dublin Airport for locations in Europe and the United Kingdom had to be cancelled.
"We are requesting passengers booked on certain flights not to arrive at Dublin Airport because we are now unable to contact them directly.
We sincerely apologise to everyone whose plans were disrupted or cancelled today.
Although online services are presently unavailable, the airline stated that passengers impacted by the outage would be able to amend their trip plans without incurring any additional costs. Customers can contact Aer Lingus via social media or the call centre.
