England defeated India in the ICC T20 World Cup semi-final to enter the final. India is out of the fight.
The unbeaten opening partnership of captain Jos Butler and Alex Hales gave England the authentic win. England won the match in Adelaide by 10 wickets. India's target of 169 runs was achieved in 16 overs on the strength of Butler and Hales' opening.
Since the first T20 World Cup in 2007, India has not been able to win the World Cup yet. England will face Pakistan in the final in Melbourne.
It is very disappointing that this happened today. We batted well in the last minute to get the score. We were not at our best in bowling and Team India responded. After losing the toss and batting, India scored 168 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Half-centuries by Hardik Pandya (63 off 33 balls) and Virat Kohli (50 off 40 balls) gave India a better score. Jordan took 3 wickets for England.
Chasing the winning target, England opener Levelesham batted fearlessly. Jos Buttler hit 3 boundaries in Bhuvneshwar Kumar's first over. Arshadeep bowled the second over well but again Bhuvneshwar Kumar came and conceded runs. Shami and Axar arrived but things were not different.
England openers scored 63 runs in 6 overs. At the same time, India scored only 38 runs. The situation was no different even after the power plug. The England openers showed India the way back by sending the Indian bowlers all over the place.
Jos Butler scored 74 runs off 49 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes. Alex Hales scored 91 runs off 47 balls with 4 fours and 7 sixes.
