New Delhi; Attacks and clashes continue in Manipur. The conflict continues in the areas bordering the Imphal Valley and the mountainous region and in the high mountains. Army arrested 25 people who were traveling with firearms in East Imphal district and recovered 60 cartridges and grenades from them.
The army spokesman said that the group was going to set fire to the houses and was caught during a vehicle inspection at the check post. On Sunday, 40 Kuki tribesmen were shot dead by a joint team of police and army. Chief Minister N Biren Singh responded that terrorists were killed.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit began on Monday. Killing, looting and arson have been going on in the state since May 3. BJP MLAs of the Kuki sect came to Delhi and expressed their distrust in the state government and the Chief Minister.
Kuki organizations have pointed out that the government is not ready to control the terrorist organizations of the Maythee sect. Relatives of most of the 75 people who were killed in the first phase of the riots are not ready to receive the bodies. They are kept in mortuaries.
