Yesterday, a Spice Jet aircraft caught fire from its fuel tank during engine repair work at the Delhi airport. The airline officials said that the crew is safe in the incident. The fire started from one of the engines. The fire brigade was immediately reached and the fire was extinguished. Passengers on another flight have released footage of the fire.
The findings were routine in nature and were not taken seriously by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). “The airline has taken appropriate corrective measures to address the findings as per DGCA guidelines.Spice jet plane catches fire at the #Delhi Airport. #SpiceJet pic.twitter.com/JxZXJhrB4y

As a result, SpiceJet has been exempted from the enhanced surveillance regime by DGCA,” the official said. A senior DGCA official said that given past observations of inadequate maintenance and last year's monsoon-related incidents, the Spice Jet has been put under increased surveillance.
