Kochi: The Kerala High Court has sought an explanation from the Lakshadweep Police Chief. on Section 30 of the Indian Police Act.
In Lakshadweep, an application must be submitted and permission obtained at the police station 48 hours before holding protests or public events. This is in violation of Article 19 of the Constitution and Section 30 of the Indian Police Act, 1861.
The police chiefs of Lakshadweep have been following the law for nearly 40 years without changing the order, which requires them to change the order once in three months and to enforce it only in case of conflict.
Lakshadweep Yuva Morcha State President Shri. Mahda Hussain filed a case before Ajit G. Ancharlekar in the Kerala High Court seeking cancellation of this order and sought an explanation from the Lakshadweep Police Chief.
