Kochi Airport Introduces Fast-Track Immigration for Trusted Travellers

Kochi: The Central Ministry of Home Affairs has launched the Fast-Track Immigration - Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) at Cochin International Airport (CIAL), enabling passengers to complete immigration formalities independently and efficiently.

CIAL had previously implemented the Digi-Yatra system, allowing domestic passengers to board without a physical boarding pass. With the introduction of FTI-TTP, international travellers can now complete immigration procedures within just 20 seconds. The system includes biometric e-gates—four at arrival and four at departure—dedicated to fast-track immigration clearance.

The initiative is available for Indian nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders, who can apply through the Ministry of Home Affairs’ dedicated portal. Once successfully registered and verified, applicants will proceed to biometric enrollment, involving facial recognition and fingerprint scanning. Enrollment counters have been set up at Kochi Airport’s FRRO office and immigration desks for this purpose.

Passengers who complete the one-time registration can use smart e-gates for all future international journeys, significantly reducing wait times. The process requires scanning the passport at the first gate, which opens automatically upon successful verification. At the second gate, the system performs facial recognition, completing the immigration procedure seamlessly.

Upon successful application submission, applicants will receive an acknowledgment via registered mobile and email. Following verification through official channels, they will receive a notification to schedule a biometric enrollment appointment at designated international airports or FRRO offices in India.

The entire registration process may take up to a month. Travellers whose biometrics cannot be captured will not be eligible for FTI-TTP. If a registered passport expires, is lost, stolen, or damaged, the traveller must reapply and complete biometric enrollment again.

Application Requirements:

  • A valid passport with a minimum of six months validity.

  • A passport-sized photograph (as per Indian passport specifications).

  • Scanned copies of the passport’s front (photo and personal details) and last page (family details).

  • Proof of current residential address.

  • OCI card (if applicable).

Important Considerations:

  • Only individual applicants can register using a unique email ID and mobile number (maximum six registrations per number/email).

  • Passports with ECR (Emigration Check Required) status are not eligible.

  • Applicants must be between 12 and 70 years of age.

  • Minors aged 12-18 must register under a parent/guardian’s email and mobile number.
