Dantewada, Chhattisgarh – Three Naxalites were killed in an intense gunfight with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Tuesday, police confirmed. The encounter took place around 8 a.m. in a dense forest near the border of Dantewada and Bijapur districts during an anti-Naxalite operation.

During the operation, an armed confrontation ensued, resulting in the deaths of three Naxalites. The area is being combed for any remaining insurgents or hidden explosives.
Recent Anti-Naxalite Operations in Chhattisgarh
The encounter comes just days after a massive crackdown on Naxalite insurgents in Chhattisgarh. On March 20, security forces carried out two major encounters in Bijapur and Kanker districts, killing at least 30 Naxalites. Of these, 22 were neutralized in a forested area near the Bijapur-Dantewada border under the Gangaloor police station limits, according to Bijapur police sources.
IED Blast in Malkangiri Leaves Jawans Critically Injured
Earlier on the same day, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Malkangiri, near the Narayanpur district border, left two jawans critically injured. The injured personnel, belonging to the Special Task Force (STF) and District Reserve Guard (DRG), were conducting a combing operation in the Abujhmad jungles when Maoists triggered the explosion. Several others reportedly sustained injuries and were rushed to the Narayanpur District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Casualties in Bijapur Encounter
In a separate exchange of fire in the Bijapur forest near the Odisha border, two Maoists were killed, while one security personnel lost his life in the operation. Security forces continue to conduct search operations in the area to track down any remaining insurgents.
The recent surge in anti-Naxalite operations reflects the government’s intensified efforts to curb Maoist activities in Chhattisgarh, a long-standing stronghold of Left-wing extremism. Officials have reiterated their commitment to ensuring security in the region and preventing further insurgent attacks.
