Indian Student Found Dead in Ottawa After Three Days Missing

 Ottawa, April 29, 2025, 04:48 PM IST – A 21-year-old Indian student, Vanshika, who had been missing for three days in Canada’s Ontario province, was found dead, as confirmed by the Indian High Commission in Ottawa. The tragic discovery has prompted an investigation by local authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.

Vanshika was last seen on the evening of April 25 after leaving her residence at 7 Majestic Drive around 8–9 PM to view a rental room, according to a letter from the Ottawa Hindi Community to the Ottawa Police Service. The letter detailed the growing concern among her family and friends, noting that her phone was switched off at approximately 11:40 PM that night. Despite repeated attempts to reach her, her phone remained off, and she missed an important exam the following day—an uncharacteristic action that heightened fears for her safety. Efforts by her family and friends to contact her were unsuccessful, leading to a formal report to the authorities.

The Indian High Commission expressed its deep sorrow, stating, “We are deeply saddened to be informed of the death of Ms. Vanshika, a student from India in Ottawa.” The Commission has assured that it is working closely with local authorities to investigate the incident and is coordinating with community organizations to provide support to Vanshika’s grieving family during this difficult time.
