Canada: The Indian High Commission in Canada has announced that missing Indian student Vanshika Saini has been found dead in the Ottawa province.
The embassy said the police investigation was ongoing and that it was "in close contact with the grieving relatives and local communities."
The Hindi community in Ottawa said in a letter to the Ottawa Police Service that Vanshika went missing after leaving her home on April 25. "The complaint states that Vanshika went missing at approximately 9 p.m. after leaving her home on Majestic Drive at 7 p.m. to look at a rental room," the complaint states.
"That night around 11.40 pm, Vanshika's phone was switched off. The family became worried when they received the information that the phone was switched off despite repeated calls. Vanshika did not appear for the main exam held the next day either. Efforts by family members and friends to contact Vanshika were unsuccessful," the letter states.
