New Delhi, May 21 — The Indian Army has strongly condemned Pakistan's actions during Operation Sindoor, accusing the Pakistan Army of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure and population centers, thereby losing all credibility on the international stage.
Addressing the media, Brigadier Mudit Mahajan, Commander of the Poonch Brigade, confirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces suffered military casualties during the operation. He further stated that Indian troops were engaged in "intense and sustained combat operations" in response to cross-border aggression.
“Pakistan not only violated ceasefire protocols but also resorted to shelling civilian and residential areas,” Brigadier Mahajan said. “These unprovoked attacks led to the tragic deaths of more than a dozen civilians and caused significant damage to hospitals and places of worship in Poonch.”
Poonch, a frontline district in Jammu and Kashmir, bore the brunt of heavy artillery shelling and UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) incursions launched by Pakistani forces. Indian defensive systems successfully repelled multiple aerial threats, the Army confirmed.
The Indian Army underscored that the deliberate targeting of non-combatants and civilian infrastructure constitutes a gross violation of international humanitarian norms. The statement marks a firm diplomatic and operational rebuke, reinforcing India's position that Operation Sindoor was both a necessary and proportionate response to cross-border terrorism and military provocations.
As tensions continue to simmer along the Line of Control, the Indian Army has reiterated its commitment to defending national sovereignty and ensuring the safety of civilians in the affected regions.
