Gaza City / Tel Aviv – May 31, 2025 The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out a series of airstrikes across the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, targeting what it described as terror operatives and infrastructure affiliated with Hamas, the ruling faction in the coastal enclave.
According to a statement released by the Israeli military, dozens of sites were hit during the latest wave of strikes, including weapons production facilities and operational cells. The IDF confirmed that a precision drone strike in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City on Friday killed a senior Hamas operative reportedly involved in the group’s weapons manufacturing efforts.
Meanwhile, ground forces operating in the region also engaged hostile elements. Soldiers from the IDF’s Paratroopers Brigade identified and neutralized a cell of four armed militants, the military said. The same unit subsequently uncovered and dismantled multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted within its area of operations.
Hamas-run health authorities in Gaza reported that at least 60 people were killed in the Israeli strikes over the same period, with dozens more wounded. Local officials have not yet released a breakdown of the casualties or indicated whether the fatalities included combatants.
The escalation comes amid continued hostilities and heightened regional tensions, as both sides remain locked in a protracted conflict that has drawn international concern.
Israeli military officials emphasized that operations in Gaza are ongoing and aimed at degrading Hamas’ operational capabilities while minimizing civilian harm. However, the rising death toll has prompted renewed calls from humanitarian organizations for restraint and the protection of non-combatants.
