A 13-year-old girl has tragically died following a collision during a motor racing event in West Cork on Sunday afternoon.
The fatal incident occurred at approximately 3:30pm at a motorsport gathering in Enniskeane, Co. Cork. Emergency services and Gardaà responded swiftly to the scene, where the young driver was pronounced dead.
Her body has since been transferred to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted in due course. The crash site has been sealed off for a full forensic and technical examination.
In a statement, a Garda spokesperson confirmed the fatality and launched an appeal for witnesses:
“Gardaà are appealing for witnesses following a fatal incident which occurred at Enniskeane, Cork, this afternoon.”
They further requested that anyone who may have been filming or taking photographs during the event between 3:00pm and 4:00pm provide the material to investigators.

The wider motorsport community has been left shocked by the tragedy, and support is being extended to the girl’s family, event organisers, and attendees as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
