This record breaks the previous record of €175 million, the largest cheque ever won by an Irish player, set in February 2019. The winning numbers were: 13, 22, 23, 44, 49, with the lucky stars being 3 and 5. The jackpot will be capped once it reaches €250 million.

It has not yet been confirmed where the winning ticket was sold.
The National Lottery urges the winner to 'remain calm, seek independent legal and financial advice and contact us as soon as possible'.

Speaking on Wednesday morning, National Lottery spokeswoman Emma Monaghan said the winning ticket owner had not yet come forward. She confirmed the winning ticket was purchased from a retail store somewhere in Ireland and said more information about where it was purchased would be released in the coming days.

"So, just after last night's draw, a small group of people got the news that it was an Irish winner, so everything was in place last night," she told RTE's Morning Ireland.

"But we're happy with it. We're happy with the winner. I mean, it's very good news for our players, they've now become the highest ever winner of an Irish National Lottery game. So, that's a title to hold on to."

She said the National Lottery's prize claims team will be open from 9am this morning and that the lucky winner has not yet been contacted. "We would urge everyone to check their tickets very carefully this morning. If they have a winning ticket, the most important thing they can do is sign the back of it and keep it somewhere safe. The next step is to contact our prize team.

“I don’t know who won, but someone outside has the winning ticket. In terms of location, all I can tell you is that the winning ticket was purchased at a retail store somewhere in Ireland.” It is unclear whether the winning ticket was purchased by an individual or a syndicate.

The National Lottery urged the winner to "remain calm, seek independent legal and financial advice and contact us as soon as possible."
