Dublin | June 22, 2025 – Emotional scenes unfolded today at Saint Joseph’s Church in Poppintree, Dublin, as family, friends, and members of the community gathered to bid farewell to Jack Goss, a young father who tragically lost his life following a serious road traffic collision involving an e-scooter.
The 20-something-year-old suffered critical injuries in the incident, which occurred on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 15, on Cappagh Road in Finglas. Despite emergency treatment at the scene and further care at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, he sadly passed away the following day, Monday, June 16.
Jack's death has deeply shaken the local community. His family, in a heartfelt tribute published on RIP.ie, described him as the "beloved son of Michael and Helena, brother of Alex and Catherine, partner of Hannah, and devoted father to baby Romee Rose." They remembered him as someone who “brought so much love, kindness and joy into their lives,” adding, “Jack’s incredible spirit and big heart will forever be missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, loved ones, and the community he cherished.”
Mourners were invited to make donations in lieu of flowers to the Aisling Project, a local youth development initiative in Poppintree and Ballymun that supports children through education and life-skills training — a cause close to Jack’s heart.
Tributes continue to pour in for the young father. One condolence message read: “My heart broke to hear the awful news about Jack. He was so polite, kind, and caring — an absolute credit to his parents. He will be sadly missed by so many.” Another mourner wrote: “A gentle giant with a heart of gold. We will forever cherish all our memories of you. Rest peacefully, Jack.”
The Gardaà continue to investigate the fatal collision and have renewed their appeal for witnesses and relevant footage. In a statement, Gardaà said the incident occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. on June 15. “The male, who was travelling on an e-scooter and sustained serious injuries, was transported to Connolly Hospital where he later died,” the statement confirmed.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision — or who was travelling along Cappagh Road between Heathfield and Cappagh Hospital between 4:45 p.m. and 5:05 p.m. on the day of the incident — to come forward, especially those with dashcam or mobile footage.
Individuals with any information are asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01-6667000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any local Garda station.
Jack Goss, a native of Poppintree in Ballymun, Dublin 9, is being remembered not only as a cherished family member and father but also as a vibrant soul whose presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
