In a parallel development in defense, the Indian Air Force has received the first three units of the AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, part of a fleet of six. These helicopters are now stationed with a newly formed squadron in Jodhpur, strategically positioned for deployment along India’s western border.
Why the Apache Matters
The AH-64E Apache is one of the most sophisticated and combat-ready attack helicopters in the world. Manufactured by U.S. defense major Boeing, it is employed by elite military forces, including those of the United States, United Kingdom, Israel, and Egypt. With India joining this list, the Apache brings a significant boost to the country’s strike capabilities.
Armed with a 30 mm chain gun, laser- and radar-guided Hellfire missiles, and rocket pods, the Apache is designed for precision engagements across multiple ground targets. A defining feature is its Longbow radar system, mounted above the rotor, which enables the helicopter to detect, track, and prioritize enemy threats—all while remaining concealed behind cover.
Built for high-risk missions, the AH-64E combines maneuverability with resilience. Its powerful twin engines, reinforced rotor blades, and advanced survivability systems allow it to operate effectively in hostile environments. The Apache is engineered to fly low, strike hard, and return safely—even under intense battlefield conditions.
