GURUGRAM | July 11, 2025 — A Gurugram court on Friday remanded Deepak Yadav, father of slain national-level tennis player Radhika Yadav, to one-day police custody as authorities intensify their investigation into the shocking murder case.
The 49-year-old accused, who allegedly shot his daughter multiple times at their Sector 57 residence on Thursday morning, was produced before the court earlier in the day. Granting police custody, the court underscored the seriousness of the offense and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation.
Police informed the court that they intend to take the accused to a village in Rewari district, where the recovery of additional weapons is believed to be necessary for the probe. The remand application was supported by medical documents submitted following an extensive health examination of the accused.
Meanwhile, Station House Officer Vindo Kumar of the Sector 56 police station clarified that the case does not appear to involve motives related to a romantic relationship or honor-based violence. "We have ruled out angles of love or honour killing at this stage," Kumar stated.
The case has garnered national attention due to the profile of the victim and the tragic circumstances of her death. Investigations are ongoing.
