Washington, D.C., Friday — U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated Sergio Gor as the next U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of India. Alongside his ambassadorial role, Gor will also serve as Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs. The announcement was made by the President on Truth Social.
Gor currently serves as Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, a position he will continue to hold until his nomination is confirmed by the Senate. President Trump expressed strong confidence in Gor’s appointment, emphasizing his ability to advance the “Make America Great Again” agenda in what he described as “the most populous region in the world.”
In his statement, Trump hailed Gor as “a great friend,” highlighting his longstanding association with the Trump movement. “He worked on my historic presidential campaigns, published my best-selling books, and led one of the largest Super PACs supporting our movement,” the President noted.
Reacting to the nomination, U.S. Secretary of State praised the decision in a post on X, saying: “I am excited about the President’s decision to nominate @SergioGor to be our next Ambassador to India. He will be an excellent representative of America in one of the most important relationships our nation has in the world.”
Gor’s nomination comes nearly seven months after Eric Garcetti stepped down as the 26th U.S. Ambassador to India, leaving the position vacant.
