Muradnagar, Ghazipur (U.P.): A 26-year-old woman has filed a police complaint alleging that her husband and in-laws subjected her to persistent harassment, including demands that she alter her appearance to resemble Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi.
According to the complaint, the woman, who married a 28-year-old physical education teacher from Meerut in March this year, stated that her husband was “obsessed” with Fatehi and pressured her to spend up to three hours a day in the gym. She further alleged that he restricted her food intake whenever she skipped workouts, frequently taunting her that his life was “ruined” as he could have married someone who looked like the actress.
The complainant also claimed her family had spent nearly ₹75 lakh on the wedding, including gifting a Mahindra Scorpio, cash, and jewellery, but she continued to face demands for dowry. She alleged that her husband secretly administered an abortion pill, resulting in a miscarriage.
“Two months ago, I discovered I was pregnant. I informed my mother-in-law, who showed no interest. Later, my husband gave me a pill which I later learned was an abortion drug. My health deteriorated and I was hospitalised, where doctors confirmed the miscarriage,” the woman alleged in her statement.
She further claimed that in late July, her in-laws denied her entry into their home.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dhawal Jaiswal confirmed on Wednesday that an FIR has been registered against the husband and his parents under sections relating to dowry harassment, intentional insult, and causing miscarriage. “The investigation is underway, and all allegations are being verified,” he said.
