Mumbai/Gujarat, September 20, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today inaugurate the state-of-the-art Mumbai International Cruise Terminal (MICT), a landmark project that positions Mumbai as a global hub for cruise tourism.
Spread across 415,000 square feet, the terminal has been developed under the ‘Cruise Bharat Mission’ and is designed to handle 1 million passengers annually. Built at a cost of ₹556 crore, the MICT is strategically located near iconic landmarks such as Colaba and the Gateway of India. The terminal promises a world-class travel experience for domestic and international tourists, giving a significant boost to India’s maritime infrastructure.
Later in the day, Prime Minister Modi will attend the ‘Samudra se Samriddhi’ event in Gujarat, where he will inaugurate a series of projects worth over ₹7,800 crore in the maritime sector alone. These include a new cruise terminal in Mumbai, advanced container handling facilities at Kolkata and Paradip ports, and a green bio-methanol plant at Deendayal Port, all aimed at strengthening India’s cargo movement and international trade.
In addition to maritime infrastructure, the Prime Minister launched several energy and industrial projects in Gujarat. These include the HPLNG Regasification Terminal at Chhara Port, the Acrylics & Oxo Alcohol Project at the Gujarat IOCL Refinery, the 600 MW Green Shoe Initiative, the PM-KUSUM 475 MW Component-C solar feeder for farmers, the 45 MW Badeli Solar PV Project, and the complete solarization of Dhordo village. Together, these projects underscore the government’s focus on clean energy, sustainable development, and industrial growth.
