Suspicion of Illicit Affair: Man Murders Cousin, Buries Body in Mine in Rajasthan

Nagaur district of Rajasthan witnessed a gruesome murder when a 29-year-old man allegedly killed his cousin over suspicions of an illicit affair with his wife and buried the body in his own mine, police said. The incident took place on August 27 in Bhawanda.

According to a report by India Today, the accused, identified as Sohan Ram, invited his cousin Mukesh Galwa to a Ganesh festival in the nearby Bhatnokh village. After the festivities concluded late at night, Sohan Ram allegedly lured Mukesh away from the crowd to a deserted spot near the village road, where he repeatedly struck him on the head with an iron rod, killing him on the spot.

He then transported the body to his personal mine, dug a 10-foot-deep pit using a JCB machine, and buried the remains. To conceal the site, he covered it with sand and stones, police said.

When Mukesh failed to return home, his family lodged a missing complaint with police on August 29. Relatives expressed suspicion against Sohan Ram, leading to his detention. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, stating that his anger over Mukesh’s alleged relationship with his wife had driven him to murder.

On Wednesday, police took the accused to the burial site, exhumed the body, and handed it over to relatives after post-mortem. Sohan Ram has been arrested and charged with murder, while further investigation is underway, officials confirmed.
