Hyderabad: After weeks of speculation and rounds of internal consultations, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday announced a new state committee, describing it as a strategic step to consolidate the party’s base and sharpen its electoral readiness over the next two years.
The 22-member panel strikes a balance between fresh talent and seasoned leaders, with 12 newcomers and 10 veterans. It also introduces three general secretaries and seven morcha presidents, aimed at energising the cadre, reinforcing the grassroots network, and deepening organisational depth.
Party insiders say the composition reflects a deliberate mix of caste and gender representation. Of the 22 posts, seven have gone to Backward Classes (BCs), with two to the Madiga community, one to the Mala community, and one to a Scheduled Tribe representative. Notably, six women leaders have found place, including B. Vijaya Lakshmi, daughter of former Haryana governor Bandaru Dattatreya, who has been appointed secretary.
Among the key appointments:
- T. Veerender Goud, son of former TDP minister T. Devender Goud, joins as general secretary.
- NV Subhash, grandson of former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, has been named chief spokesperson.
- Kasam Venkateswarlu Yadav, earlier a general secretary, now serves as vice-president.
- Other vice-presidents include former Hyderabad mayor Banda Karthika Reddy, Kolli Madhavi, Jayasree, former MP Boora Narsaiah Goud, J. Gopi, Bhandari Shanti Kumar, and Raghunath Rao.
The panel also features secretaries O. Srinivas Reddy, Koppu Basha, Bharat Prasad, Baddam Mahipal Reddy, and T. Ravi Kumar, while Devaki Vasukumar and Vijay Surana Jain have been appointed treasurer and joint treasurer, respectively.
The morchas have been restructured with Shilpa Reddy as Mahila Morcha president, Ganesh Kunde as Yuva Morcha president, B. Lakshminarayana as Kisan Morcha president, Kranti Kiran as SC Morcha president, Ravi Naik as ST Morcha president, Anand Goud as OBC Morcha president, and Sardar Jagmohan Singh as Minority Morcha president.
Sources revealed that the final list was whittled down from an initial 60 names to 22, following intense deliberations and pressure from senior leaders seeking representation. “The final selection reflects the party’s long-term organisational priorities, not immediate pressures,” a senior functionary noted.
Political analysts believe the new committee signals a renewed BJP push in Telangana, emphasising caste inclusion, gender balance, and leadership grooming as the party gears up for critical electoral contests in the coming years.
