Uttar Pradesh Cancels 64 MBBS Admissions Obtained Through Fake Certificates

LUCKNOW: Authorities in Uttar Pradesh have cancelled 64 MBBS admissions that were allegedly secured using forged certificates claiming eligibility under the Freedom Fighter Dependents quota. The irregularities came to light during the first round of UP NEET-UG 2025 counselling.

Director General of Medical Education (DGME) Kinjal Singh confirmed that 64 seats were found to have been obtained on the basis of fraudulent documents. “We have written to the respective District Magistrates, directing them to register FIRs against those responsible for issuing or presenting the fake certificates. Further investigation into the matter is underway,” Singh stated.

Admissions under this quota are made on the basis of certificates issued by district administrations. Verification revealed that several candidates had falsely claimed to be dependents of freedom fighters.

Of the 4,442 MBBS seats available under the state quota across government medical colleges, institutions, and universities, 88 seats were reserved under the horizontal quota for freedom fighter dependents. A total of 71 candidates had completed the admission process under this category, of which 64 have now been invalidated.

Letters have been sent to the district magistrates of Agra, Ghazipur, Ballia, Bhadohi, Meerut, Saharanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, and Bulandshahr, where the fraudulent certificates were traced. District authorities have confirmed that the documents submitted in these cases were fake.

The DGME has also clarified that affected students will be barred from further proceedings but may reappear in subsequent rounds of NEET-UG 2025 counselling, subject to rules.
