Blood and Plasma Theft Reported at AIIMS Bhopal, Employee Booked

Bhopal, October 3, 2025 — Authorities at AIIMS Bhopal have reported a case of theft involving multiple units of blood and plasma from the hospital’s blood bank. A formal complaint was lodged by Dr. Gyanendra Prasad, in charge of the AIIMS Blood Bank, at the Bag Sewania police station, leading to the registration of an FIR against a staff member.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Kashyap Kaul, preliminary findings indicate that the theft of blood and plasma units has been occurring over a period of time. The accused staff member has been booked and is expected to be arrested soon.

Police officials confirmed that CCTV footage from within the hospital premises has been requested as part of the investigation. Notably, surveillance cameras reportedly captured the accused handing over stolen plasma units to an unidentified individual just two days ago.

The incident has raised serious concerns over security lapses in the handling of sensitive medical resources. Investigations are currently underway, with police intensifying efforts to trace both the employee’s activities and the end recipients of the stolen blood products.
