Bhuj, Gujarat — Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday issued a strong warning to Pakistan over the expansion of its military infrastructure in the Sir Creek area, asserting that any misadventure would be met with a decisive response capable of altering both “the history and geography” of the region.
Sir Creek, a 96-kilometre tidal estuary between India’s Kutch district in Gujarat and Sindh province in Pakistan, has remained a contentious boundary dispute since Independence. While India maintains that the boundary should lie mid-channel, Pakistan claims it should be located on the eastern bank, closer to India.
“Even after 78 years of independence, the dispute in Sir Creek is being stirred up. India has made multiple efforts to resolve it through dialogue, but Pakistan’s intentions remain unclear. The recent expansion of Pakistan Army infrastructure near Sir Creek exposes its motives,” Singh said at an event in Gujarat.
He emphasised that India’s forces are fully prepared to counter any provocation. “The Indian Army and BSF are jointly and vigilantly protecting our borders. If Pakistan attempts any misadventure in Sir Creek, the response will be so decisive that it will change both history and geography. In 1965, the Indian Army demonstrated its capability by reaching Lahore. Today in 2025, Pakistan must remember that one route to Karachi also passes through this creek,” Singh warned.
Operation Sindoor and India’s Military Preparedness
The Defence Minister hailed the success of Operation Sindoor, conducted against Pakistan, crediting the Indian Armed Forces for their unity and swift execution. “Weapons alone are not enough. It is courage, discipline, and the unity of our forces that ensure victory in the most difficult situations,” he said.
During the operation, Singh said, Pakistan attempted to breach India’s defences from Leh to Sir Creek but failed. “Our armed forces exposed Pakistan’s air defence systems and sent a clear message to the world — India can inflict heavy damage on Pakistan whenever, wherever, and however it chooses,” he asserted.
While highlighting India’s capability, Singh underlined that restraint was exercised once objectives were met. “India’s operations were directed against terrorism. We must remember that alongside weapons, morale, unity, and mutual trust are equally vital to meet these challenges,” he added.
Vijayadashami Observance
On the occasion of Vijayadashami, the Defence Minister performed Shastra Pooja of the L-70 Air Defence Gun at the Bhuj Military Base. The system was successfully deployed during Operation Sindoor, symbolising India’s growing technological and operational strength.
