The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Shubman Gill as captain for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, beginning October 19 in Perth. The squad, announced on Saturday, October 4, features senior stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, while wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and all-rounder Hardik Pandya have been sidelined due to injuries. Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the series.

With Pandya unavailable, Nitish Kumar Reddy has been included as the fast-bowling all-rounder.
