Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh: A shocking murder in Renigunta has drawn widespread concern over the rising trend of killings triggered by trivial disputes and emotional outbursts. Authorities say the brutal act highlights how suspicion and uncontrolled anger can spiral into irreversible tragedy.
According to police, a 32-year-old mason from the Guvvala Colony area of Renigunta, distraught after being abandoned by his wife, fatally attacked a 17-year-old boy with a sharp knife following a petty altercation. The accused allegedly believed that the teenager, identified as Srihari, was mocking him, and in a fit of rage, slit his throat using a blade typically used for cutting tiles.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the quiet neighbourhood. Residents said the accused had been deeply depressed since his wife left him and often imagined that people in the colony were ridiculing him.
Tension first erupted when the man confronted Srihari, accusing him of laughing at him. The altercation turned physical when the accused struck the boy. Learning of the incident, Srihari’s father approached the accused to question his behaviour and warned him not to repeat such actions. However, shortly after the father left, another argument broke out between the two, ending in tragedy.
Srihari sustained severe neck injuries and was rushed by locals to Ruia Government Hospital in Tirupati, where doctors pronounced him dead during treatment.
Police from Renigunta station have taken the accused into custody and registered a case of murder. Investigators are examining whether the act stemmed from emotional distress and psychological instability following his wife’s departure or from other underlying motives.
The horrific killing has plunged the Guvvala Colony community into grief and fear, with residents calling for greater awareness and intervention to prevent such emotionally driven crimes.
