Nalgonda, Telangana – October 8, 2025 – In a harrowing incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a 17-year-old intermediate student was allegedly raped and murdered by her purported lover in Nalgonda town on Tuesday morning. The accused, a local tractor driver, has been arrested, while police continue to probe potential involvement of accomplices.
The victim, a first-year intermediate student at the Government Girls Junior College in Nalgonda, hailed from Anna Reddygudem village in the Nalgonda mandal. According to family members and investigators, she had been in a relationship with Gaddam Krishna, a man in his 20s from Guttakindi Annaram village, for the past six months. Krishna, who worked as a tractor driver, had reportedly been pursuing the minor under the guise of affection.
On October 7, Krishna lured the girl to a secluded room in Shamsh Nagar, Road No. 8—near a local water tank and within the vicinity of the Nalgonda 2 to Town Station—under the pretext of a private meeting. Eyewitnesses claimed to have seen two men escorting her away from college in an autorickshaw earlier that morning, though only Krishna has been named and detained so far. Inside the room, which belonged to one of Krishna's friends, he allegedly subjected her to sexual assault. When she resisted, he is said to have strangled her to death, leading to her demise at the scene.
The girl's body was discovered later that day and promptly transported to Nalgonda Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. Preliminary findings suggest asphyxiation as the cause of death, pending a detailed forensic report. Her family, devastated by the loss, has demanded swift and severe justice, emphasizing the betrayal of trust in what began as a seemingly consensual relationship.
Nalgonda Superintendent of Police Sharath Chandra Pawar visited the crime scene to oversee the initial response and has directed a thorough investigation. A case has been registered against Krishna under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rape and murder, as well as provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. While early reports circulated claims of a gang assault involving an additional perpetrator, authorities have clarified that the probe is ongoing to ascertain the full extent of involvement, with no other arrests confirmed at this stage. Krishna surrendered to police shortly after the incident and is currently under interrogation.
This heartbreaking case underscores the urgent need for heightened awareness and safeguards against exploitation in relationships involving minors. As the investigation unfolds, further details will be disclosed upon completion of forensic analysis and witness statements. The community mourns the loss of a bright young student, whose future was cruelly cut short.
