As counting progresses in the Bihar Assembly elections, early trends indicate a decisive advantage for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which appears to be comfortably surpassing the majority threshold. The opposition INDIA bloc, meanwhile, has slipped behind as the numbers continue to unfold. The high-stakes verdict has intensified political rhetoric on both sides.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed confidence in the outcome, stating, “Just a few hours of waiting, and the good-governance government will return.”
On the other hand, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav urged officials to uphold transparency and fairness, remarking, “Our party workers are alert and present at the counting centres. If any official attempts to repeat the mistakes of 2020 or acts with malicious intent, the public will give a strong response.”
Polling for all 243 constituencies was conducted in two phases on November 6 and 11, with a total of 7.42 crore registered voters—including 3.92 crore men and 3.5 crore women—eligible to cast their ballots.
Voter turnout remained notably strong. The first phase recorded 65.08%, while the second saw 68.76% polling. The opening phase, covering 121 constituencies across 18 districts, marked a milestone with 64.66%, the highest turnout in Bihar’s electoral history, reflecting growing voter engagement.
According to current trends, the NDA is leading in 149 constituencies, while the Mahagathbandhan (MGB) holds leads in 74.
Exit polls released on November 12 also projected a clear edge for the ruling NDA, pointing to a comfortable lead over the Mahagathbandhan.
