A tragic and mysterious double death involving a woman and her 11-month-old son has been reported from Chandralayout in Bengaluru, Karnataka, raising serious concerns and prompting a detailed police investigation.
The incident, which came to light on April 1, has shocked the local community and triggered widespread concern. Police said the case appears to be a complex mix of suspected suicide and unexplained circumstances surrounding the death of the infant.
The deceased has been identified as Pratibha Vali. According to preliminary findings, her body was discovered hanging from a ceiling hook inside the residence, using a sari. Her infant son was found dead on a bed in the same house. Investigators also noted injuries on the woman’s wrist, adding further ambiguity to the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The alarm was raised by the woman’s husband, Mahantesh Vali, an engineer working in the Peenya area. He reportedly returned home in the evening to find the house locked from the inside. After receiving no response despite repeated calls, he used a spare key to enter the residence, where he discovered the bodies and immediately alerted the police.
Authorities have registered a case under the Unnatural Death Report (UDR) at the Chandralayout Police Station. A suicide note and prescription documents recovered from the scene are currently under examination as part of the investigation.
Police have stated that the exact cause of death will be determined following the post-mortem and forensic analysis. Multiple angles, including domestic circumstances and possible psychological stress factors, are being explored as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
