Actor Ranbir Kapoor has offered fresh insight into the upcoming epic Ramayana: Part 1, praising Yash for his unconventional interpretation of Ravana. Speaking at the film’s teaser launch in Los Angeles, Kapoor emphasised that Yash’s portrayal would stand apart from traditional depictions and resonate strongly with audiences.
“Yash, of course, carries immense stardom. To play Ravana, you need someone with that aura and commanding screen presence,” Kapoor said. “His interpretation is very different from what we have seen over the years, and I believe audiences will truly enjoy watching it on the big screen.”
The teaser for the film was unveiled in India on April 2, offering a brief glimpse of Ravana as he approaches the Pushpak Vimana. While Yash’s full look has not yet been revealed, the visuals hint at key moments from the epic, including what appears to be a confrontation with Jatayu following Sita’s abduction.
A Global Vision for Indian Cinema
Beyond his role as Ravana, Yash is also co-producing the project. Speaking previously about the film’s vision, he highlighted his ambition to position Indian cinema on a global stage. During discussions with producer Namit Malhotra, the idea of Ramayana emerged as a shared creative aspiration.
Yash noted that their collaboration took shape during meetings in Los Angeles, where they explored partnerships with leading visual effects studios. “Our vision for Indian cinema aligned perfectly,” he said, describing the project as part of a broader effort to elevate storytelling standards and international reach.
Ensemble Cast and масштаб Production
Ramayana: Part 1 features a star-studded ensemble, including Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
The film blends traditional Indian storytelling with global production values, supported by an international creative team. The music is composed by acclaimed artists Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman, further underscoring the project’s scale and ambition.

The narrative follows the journey of Rama, alongside Sita and Lakshman, culminating in the epic conflict that forms the heart of the ancient Indian saga. Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled for a global theatrical release during Diwali 2026, with the second instalment expected to follow in Diwali 2027.
