New Delhi, April 20, 2026 — A 65-year-old man was killed and a 23-year-old youth sustained injuries in a stabbing incident in the Seelampur area of the national capital on Monday morning, triggering panic among local residents and prompting a detailed police investigation.
According to officials from the Delhi Police, the incident was reported at around 8:35 a.m. to the Seelampur police station. A police team rushed to the spot in the K-Block slum cluster, where the attack had taken place.
Preliminary findings suggest that the violence stemmed from a personal dispute, during which the two individuals allegedly attacked each other with a knife. The sudden escalation of the altercation led to chaos in the neighbourhood, with residents gathering at the scene shortly after the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Ismail, 65, who was immediately taken by family members to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. His death has left the family devastated, with relatives demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal assault. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
The injured individual, Danish, 23, is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Medical officials have described his condition as stable, though he remains under close observation. Police stated that his statement will be crucial in establishing the sequence of events.
Investigators have recovered a knife from the scene, believed to have been used in the attack. A forensic team has also examined the site and collected evidence to aid the probe.
