A father and son were fatally stabbed in a residential complex in south Delhi’s Alaknanda area, allegedly by a neighbour following a dispute over monetary issues, police said.
The incident took place late Friday night at a flat in Tara Apartments, located near Chittaranjan Park. The victims have been identified as 62-year-old Rakesh Sood and his 27-year-old son, Karan Sood.
A third individual, Rahul—Karan’s cousin—also sustained injuries during the attack and is currently undergoing treatment.
According to investigators, the accused, identified as Asad, returned home and became involved in an argument with the victims. During the altercation, he allegedly pulled out a large knife and attacked Karan multiple times. When Rakesh attempted to intervene and save his son, he too was repeatedly stabbed. The accused then fled the scene.
Police personnel reached the spot shortly after receiving information and found the victims lying in a pool of blood. They were immediately rushed to Max Hospital, where doctors declared both father and son dead on arrival.
Officials said CCTV footage from the area was analysed to trace the accused’s movements, leading to his arrest. Preliminary findings suggest that the attack was premeditated, with the accused allegedly targeting the victims with a planned approach and inflicting multiple stab wounds to the neck and other parts of the body.
Initial investigations indicate that the incident stemmed from an ongoing financial dispute. Karan, who was associated with his father’s property business, had reportedly been involved in an earlier altercation with the accused on the same day.
Further investigation is underway.
