Hyderabad Power Outages Spike Amid Rising Temperatures, Residents Voice Frustration

Rising temperatures in Hyderabad have coincided with a surge in power outage complaints since Wednesday night, with several areas continuing to experience disruptions through Thursday.

The ongoing situation has caused widespread inconvenience, particularly during peak summer conditions. While the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited has acknowledged receiving complaints, many residents say outages in their localities remain unresolved.

Citizens have taken to social media to highlight the worsening scenario. A resident from the BHEL area criticised the city’s electricity infrastructure, describing repeated power cuts during extreme heat as “unacceptable” and calling for urgent modernisation.

In Kishanbagh, another resident reported that power supply had been disrupted since 1 a.m., allegedly due to a transformer failure in Asad Baba Nagar. Similar complaints emerged from multiple parts of the city, indicating that the issue is widespread rather than confined to a single locality.

Residents in areas such as Diamond Hills in the Golconda division also reported continuous outages since the previous night, while others noted repeated interruptions with power supply being restored briefly before failing again. Several users expressed concern over the lack of communication from authorities regarding restoration timelines.

Responding to some of the complaints, Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited stated that the issues had been escalated to the concerned officials. However, residents maintain that the disruptions persist despite these assurances.

The impact of the outages is being felt across households and working professionals alike. Individuals working from home have reported significant disruption to their daily routines, citing frequent and prolonged power cuts in areas such as Moula Ali and Vasanth Vihar Colony.

With temperatures continuing to rise, residents have called for immediate intervention and long-term upgrades to the city’s power infrastructure to prevent recurring outages.
