MUMBAI – Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday inaugurated ‘Tech-Wari 2.0,’ a comprehensive initiative designed to modernize Maharashtra’s administrative framework through advanced technology and human-centric governance. Speaking at the launch of ‘Maharashtra Training Week’ at Mantralaya, the Chief Minister emphasized that the state is on a fast-tracked path to making the administration more efficient, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the common man.
Technology with a Human Touch
In a symbolic address, Fadnavis likened the ordinary citizen to "Lord Vitthal," stating that the ultimate purpose of 'Tech-Wari' is to serve the people. However, he cautioned that effective governance requires more than just digital tools.
"The ultimate purpose of technology is to simplify the lives of ordinary citizens," the Chief Minister remarked. He urged officials to balance technological adoption with human sensitivity, mental health awareness, and the capacity for self-reflection and constructive criticism.
The AI Revolution in Administration
Highlighting the rapid evolution of digital literacy—from basic internet usage to the current era of Artificial Intelligence (AI)—Fadnavis issued a call to action for the state’s workforce.
The 1,000-Day Shift: The Chief Minister predicted that 80–90% of existing work patterns could be fundamentally altered by AI within the next 1,000 days.
Interactive Innovation: The event featured 'Vasudev,' an AI agent that interacted with participants, showcasing the practical applications of generative technology in government settings.
Modernizing the Workforce
Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar noted that ‘Tech-Wari 2.0’ is a pivotal platform for government employees to build a modern outlook and engage in continuous self-development.
Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal further explained that the initiative is designed to foster both analytical and creative growth. The curriculum for the five-day training program is extensive, covering:
Digital Governance and Data Protection
Quantum Computing and Generative AI
Cybersecurity, Ethics, and Mental Well-being
Unprecedented Scale
According to an official release, the training program is one of the largest of its kind:
In-Person Participation: Approximately 6,000 employees are attending the sessions physically.
Digital Reach: Over 9 lakh employees are set to participate in the sessions online, ensuring a state-wide upgrade in technical competency.
The inauguration concluded with the Chief Minister honoring frontline staff, recognizing their critical role in the successful delivery of citizen-centric services.
