Global Box Office Explodes as Mamitha Baiju’s Festive Release Crowned Season’s Definitive Blockbuster

KOCHI — South Indian cinema’s breakout star Mamitha Baiju has cemented her status as a premier box-office draw, driving the romantic-comedy Bethlehem Kudumba Unit to staggering international milestones. Released on August 21 to coincide with the traditional Onam harvest festival, the film has emerged as the definitive cultural and commercial titan of the holiday theatrical slate, rapidly racing past a worldwide gross of ₹175 crore amid heavy holiday footfall.

Produced by Bhavana Studios, the project pairs Baiju alongside Malayalam star Nivin Pauly and is directed by Girish A.D., the hitmaker behind the pan-Indian sensation Premalu. Reviewers have lauded the feature for revitalizing the festive rom-com genre, praising the unconventional chemistry and lighthearted narrative that resonated deeply with multi-generational audiences during the week-long celebrations.

Hailing from Kidangoor in the Kottayam district of Kerala,Mamitha Baiju comes from a close-knit family; she is the daughter of prominent diabetologist Dr. Baiju Krishnan and Mini Baiju, and has an elder brother named Mithun Baiju, having successfully balanced her artistic pursuits with a degree in psychology from Sacred Heart College in Kochi.

Industry analysts note that Baiju's consecutive high-profile successes have dramatically expanded the global footprint of Malayalam cinema, transforming regional holiday release windows into major international events. Following its domestic triumph, the feature is slated for expanded multi-language theatrical distributions across Tamil and Telugu markets.
