The Irish government has approved an energy credit of €200, including VAT, for all households. The payment will be credited to the energy bills in the coming weeks, which will cost 400 million.
All domestic electricity customers in Ireland (including pay as you go customers), will get a one-off payment of €200 in April 2022. This is part of the package of supports to combat the cost of living.
Most of the 300,000 tenants registered with the RTB have household electricity accounts and the payment will be applied directly to those accounts. However, in the event of "disputes" from landlords who do not pay the rebate from the bill, tenants can seek the assistance of the RTB.
If the owner does not apply the electricity rebate for the March and April electricity bills, which apply to 200 euro electricity bills, tenants can file a lawsuit with the RTB.
“Some tenants will have rental agreements, where the tenants will pay the actual share of each electricity bill, in which case they will benefit from this payment because the amount of the bill will be less than the amount of the payment. There will be other adjustments for a smaller ratio so that the cost of electricity is part of the rental cost, ”- said Irish Minister Ryan.
When will receive the €200 government electricity credit?
