Burial of gang member James Whelan, who died in the Gangland shooting, was buried in a gold coffin at River Mount Parish, Finglas on 13/04/2022 in a cemetery.
A 29-year-old man has been shot dead by gunmen in the early hours of Sunday, April 3. James Wheeler was found with a fatal gunshot wound. Weeks before the fatal shooting, he was the victim of a series of attacks on social media, and the war of words continued hours after he was mocked and killed on social media by both opponents.
Many people accompanied the mourners to the River Mount Parish Church in Finglas for Mass at 11.30am before leaving for Dardistown Cemetery for burial. Wheeler's gold coffin was brought to the church in a chariot covered with white flowers. The procession was followed by large crowds through the streets of Finglas.
Whelan, the father of one child, was shot dead in the Deanstown Avenue area of Finglas, while Finglas mob boss is believed to have tried to carry out a petrol bomb attack on an object belonging to Mr. Flashy. Whelan, who has more than 50 convictions, also realizes that he has been at loggerheads with Mr. Flashy in recent months - he got his nickname from his constant advertising on social media.
The feud between the two sides escalated to a new level last month when an accomplice of Mr. Flashy was abducted, beaten and thrown into a Finglas. Whelan's assassination marks a new beginning for Finglas' animosity. Gardai now fears further violence between hostile groups - Gardai(Police of Ireland) now believes a key colleague of Mr. Flashy's was the gunman who shot Whelan.
