Two people from Kerala State have been arrested on suspicion of recruiting students into care homes for forced labor and human trafficking offenses under the Slavery Act in UK
The Gangmasters and Labor Abuse Authority (GLAA) reports that the arrests were made by the Gangmasters and Labor Abuse Authority (GLAA) as part of an investigation into a recruitment agency for transporting vulnerable students to care homes in North Wales.
A husband and wife from Kerala, registered nurses run by a recruitment agency, were previously arrested at their home address in Abergele on charges of modern-day slavery. They are currently being investigated and released.
Six care homes do not currently employ workers provided by the recruitment agency. GLAA officials took action after information provided to the Helpline on Modern Slavery and Exploitation indicated that workers were fainting on their shifts.
GLAA Senior Investigating Officer Martin Plimmer said: "This is a complex investigation and requires a certain level of sensitivity with the area of alleged exploitation in mind." So let's take action as we did today.

Two Malayalees, aged 24 and 46, were taken into custody after the GLAA, North Wales Police raided Pwllheli in Gwynedd on May 5.
The GLAA interrogated both men on suspicion of forced labor and human trafficking offenses under the Modern Slavery Act of 2015.
GLAA has identified nine Indian students as potential victims of modern-day slavery and labor exploitation by December 2021. At two addresses in Colvin Bay, officers found workers sleeping on mattresses on the floor in cramped, cold and unsanitary conditions.
All victims were taken to the nearest reception center, and security packages, including food parcels, and increased security at their addresses were put in place.
