New Delhi: India has said it will reopen its embassy in the capital, Kiev, from May 17. The embassy in Warsaw, Ukraine, has been operating temporarily since mid-March. The resumption of operations of the Indian Embassy in Ukraine comes amid a series of decisions by several Western countries to reopen their embassies in the capital.
The Indian Embassy in Ukraine, which was temporarily closed from Warsaw, will resume operations in Kiev from the 17th, the Foreign Ministry said.
The Indian embassy relocated to Warsaw after more than 20,000 civilians were repatriated from Operation Ganga, an evacuation mission launched on February 26 in the wake of the Ukraine war.
The Indian Embassy in Kiev was temporarily relocated to Warsaw on March 13. India has decided to temporarily relocate its embassy to Poland in view of the rapidly deteriorating security situation in Ukraine, including around Kiev, during the Russian military offensive.
