The Union Health Ministry has reduced the interval for taking the Covid-19 preventive shot or booster shot after the initial two doses to six months from earlier nine months.
The government’s advisory body on vaccination-the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI)-had recommended reducing the gap between the second jab and the booster dose.
In a letter to chief secretaries, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that the precautionary dose will be given to all beneficiaries aged 18-59 years at Private Covid Vaccination Centers (CVCs) after completion of 6 months or 26 weeks.
"Beneficiaries above 60 years of age, health care workers (HCWs) and front line workers (FLWs), will be given a preventive dose after completion of 6 months or 26 weeks from the date of second dose at government CVCs.,Free,".
