IRELAND: According to Irish Rail, passengers "opened the doors and walked across the track" while the DART waited for a clear platform. Following this, all services were temporarily suspended on Sunday.
Passengers were left outraged by the incident as they claimed their actions were justified as there was little room or ventilation on the train.
Taking to Twitter, they said: "Disgraceful tweet from @IrishRail. I was on an earlier Dart, which was packed on the way to Bray, no aircon, with elderly and kids really suffering from the heat. Standing room only for most passengers. Poor poor service on what could have been a showcase for public transport".
Added a second: "Really bad customer service at Bray Dart Station. No one communicated with us, and when we arrived at the platform, there were about 20 people wearing orange jackets standing around doing nothing. would discourage folks from returning to what was otherwise a wonderful day ".
A third person said: "I rode that DART, too. Broken air conditioning and inoperable windows Children were weeping, there were many distressed adults, and it was really hot. Between Shankill and Bray, a train is stranded. @IrishRail needs to accept that there was a true emergency and stop placing the blame on the passengers ".
To force doors open and to step on the tracks, according to Irish Rail, is a "hazardous act."
At 14:55, a southbound DART was waiting for a clear platform at Bray before entering the station when several persons pushed the doors and went on the track, according to an Irish Rail spokeswoman.
"Due to this risky behaviour, trains had to be stopped in both directions so that our employees and the Garda could remove trespassers off the track. This caused delays for passengers on this train and the trains that followed, and a related problem then developed on the DART behind. The route between Dalkey and Bray was blocked up.
"While it is understandable that passengers want to get to the station as soon as possible, on such a busy and humid day, this has turned a delay outside of Bray of just over 5 minutes into one that has delayed services for up to two hours.
