IRELAND: Thousands of Irish customers are to be hit with a double bill this month as a result of an Electric Ireland billing issue.
The utility company said the delay was caused by the "complex nature" of applying the Government's temporary VAT reduction, alongside issuing a €200 credit for energy bills.
Around 24,000 Electric Ireland customers will receive two bills at once as a result.
Electric Ireland claimed that in a little amount of time, it made the necessary changes to customers' bills in collaboration with the relevant tax and regulatory authorities.
However, 2% of its clients experienced a delay in receiving their bills despite this.
There are now about 1.2 million residential users and 95,000 commercial customers using Electric Ireland, a division of the ESB.
According to RTE News, the company apologised for any inconvenience this may have caused some clients and asked that they contact them at 1800 372 372 if they had any questions about their invoices.
We'll collaborate with them to make sure a solution is implemented, including a manageable payment schedule.
