India: Grief and shock': Abe one of dearest friends- Modi, India declares national mourning tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Japan has lost a close friend with the death of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Expressing deep sorrow over Abe's demise, the Prime Minister said that he will hold a mourning ceremony in the country tomorrow as part of his respect.

Shinzo Abe is a great statesman and administrator. Modi said that Abe's role in taking India-Japan relations to a new level was invaluable.

I was able to see him again during my recent visit to Japan. He also got a chance to discuss many issues. Never thought it would be the last meeting. The Prime Minister said that he shares the grief of Shinse's family and the people of Japan on his demise.

Former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe was killed. He was 67 years old. He died while undergoing treatment after being shot by an assailant during a public event. Shinzo Abe was shot by an assailant while speaking at an election campaign event in the western Japanese town of Nara. The incident took place around 11.30 am local time.
