US President Joe Biden's wife, Jill Biden, has tested positive for Covid-19 and has mild symptoms.
The 71-year-old had initially tested negative on Monday during a regular testing session, but developed cold-like symptoms that evening.
Prior to a positive PCR result, she tested negative on a quick antigen test.
The first lady has received two initial immunizations and two booster shots, according to spokesperson Elizabeth Alexander.
Paxlovid, an antiviral medication, has also been recommended for her despite her modest symptoms.
In South Carolina, the US state, Mrs. Biden and her husband, US President Joe Biden, are on vacation.
The White House stated that she will remain there in isolation for at least five days before returning home following two straight negative tests.
