Tesco Ireland : Urgently recalling the tablets and asking customers not to take them

Tesco Ireland has recalled a line of its own-brand fish oil tablets after it was discovered they contain high levels of a certain ingredient.

An urgent recall notice was issued on certain batches of the Tesco Health Omega 3 Fish Oil capsules as they had raised levels of glycidol which were "above the permitted legal limit".

The supermarket advised shoppers who bought the supplements to stop taking them immediately and instead return the product to a Tesco store where they will be given a refund - with no receipt necessary.

Tesco advised customers who may have taken the drugs that if they followed the dose instructions, it shouldn't have an adverse effect on their health.

But if anyone who has taken the pills recently feels poorly, they should see their doctor.

The Tesco Health Omega 3 Fish Oil 30, 90, and 240g capsules, which have a best-before date of any date up to and including April 2025, are the batches that are impacted.

Tesco issued a recall last week for certain date codes of its Tesco Health Omega 3 Fish Oil 30, 90, and 240 capsules due to elevated glycidol levels that were beyond the allowable legal limit.

"If you have been taking the medication as prescribed, this shouldn't have an impact on your health. However, we advise you to see your doctor if you've just used the product and feel sick."
