Cork: COINNs Summerfest, one of the largest gatherings of Irish Malayalis, will be held on Saturday 20th August 2022 from 11am to 9pm at St. The organizing committee has announced that all arrangements have been made for the event to be held at Finbarr's National Hurling & Football Club, Togher.
Various types of sports competitions such as chess, caroms, volleyball, badminton and cricket held in the past months were participated by teams of various nationalities and were successfully completed.
Bharatesh Badadamat won the chess tournament with 16 participants and Allen Abraham took second place. Alex GB Pallatti also shined as Junior Chess Champion.
In the carroms tournament, Allen Abraham / Jobin Jose team emerged as winners while Nidin Varghese / Anwar Sadhat team came second.
On 31/7/22 at the Riverstick Community Center 5 teams competed in a volleyball tournament consisting of Irish, Polish, Filipino and Indian teams. The IT Carlow team ran out winners with a flurry of sets and smashes and Kilkenny Spartans took second place.
The Badminton Tournament held at Bishopstown GAA Club on 6th August saw 112 players, both male and female, in 56 teams across various divisions. In a day that witnessed dazzling performances, the winners were selected in their respective divisions in order.
The cricket tournament, in which 8 teams from various counties competed, started on August 7 at the Glasheen AFC ground. After a festive match, the Swingers emerged victorious and the Red Riders finished second.
The main event of COINNs Summerfest 2022, apart from various arts and sports competitions, the carnival venue is all set to celebrate a summer day with the family.
The Togher GAA ground will be full of festive atmosphere with shops, trade groups and line ups. Information centers and catering departments of many organizations will provide support to the carnival fair.
Exhibition and sale of rich food pantries are coming to spice up the fair.
The arts and cultural competitions will begin in the morning followed by a thrilling All-Ireland tug-of-war competition and a penalty shoot-out competition followed by a 'Mega Thiruvathira' for women. The fair will also feature dances performed by various dance schools and dance groups in Ireland.
A mega stage show lined up by Ireland's art and music talent, a concert by Irish Malayalees' eagerly awaited music band 'Kutil', dance performance by Bolifeet, classical dance performance by Atma, Irish dance by Christian Ford Dance School and karate performance by Curam De Cara will enthrall the audience.
Face painting, henna designing, kids plays & rides and many other activities are also arranged for children.
Prize giving to the winners will be done by special guests during the carnival.
Ample facilities for parking of vehicles have been provided adjacent to the carnival venues.
COINNs Summerfest 2022, taking place on August 20, 2022 at Togher GAA Club, will be a homecoming event for everyone. All the facilities have been prepared at the carnival venue for both children and adults to enjoy.
